Our project

It was always Go Tweed Valley’s goal to create a small-scale, sustainable trail for paddlers in the south of Scotland. A trail that would allow everyone to experience time on one of Scotland’s great rivers – from seasoned experts to first-timers keen to discover the joy of life on the water.

The canoe trail was developed in close collaboration with Paddle Scotland, Scottish Borders Council and private landowners. Without their unwavering commitment to this project – and the generous financial support received from the Fallago Environment Fund the Canoe Foundation – the Tweed Valley Canoe Trail would not be what it is today.

Looking after the canoe trail for future paddlers, and ensuring the continued health of the river, however, is going to need an ongoing level of funding and support. Which is where you lovely people come in …

Giving back

If you’ve enjoyed your time exploring the River Tweed and surrounding valley, please consider making a small (or large!) donation. Whatever you can give.

All donations will firstly be used to maintain and improve the trail for future river users. It will support the maintenance of waymarkers and signage, canoe anchor points and any future infrastructure developments – as well as keeping the trail safe for those who paddle it.

It will also ensure there’s a steady supply of physical trail maps at the Go Tweed Valley Visitor Information Centre.

In addition, we are committed to giving back to the river and supporting local conservation projects along its length. Working closely with our friends at Tweed Forum and the Tweed Foundation, your donations will contribute to research and projects that will ensure the future health of the River Tweed and the precious wildlife that live in and around it.

Thank you for your support.
