Kailzie Courtyard Cafe, nr Peebles

Situated in the gorgeous grounds of Kailzie Gardens, the Courtyard Café is a delightful spot for coffee, brunch, lunch and Sunday roasts. Enjoy seasonal fruit and vegetables from the stunning walled garden and a surprising menu inspired by international flavours.

 

 

Scots Pine Tea Room, Eddleston

Indoor and outdoor dining at this lovely café on the outskirts of Eddleston (a village that is well worth exploring). Expect a wide range of delicious café staples, including home baking. Children’s play area and dog-friendly, too. 

 

 

The Cozy Kitchen, Peebles

Delicious homemade food, excellent coffee and life-affirming cakes and bakes are on offer at this aptly named cafe in the heart of the Old Town. Nestled alongside the Castle Warehouse Cookshop, it’s away from the hustle and bustle – a peaceful spot for a post-walk bite or morning pick-me-up.

Cocoa Black, Peebles

A temple to all things chocolate. A bustling boutique café downstairs, while upstairs is home to an award-winning chocolate and pastry school run by Ruth Hinks, UK World Chocolate Master. Chocolate lovers might never leave.

 

 

The Oven Door, Peebles

Tucked away in a delightful courtyard setting off Peebles High Street, this warm and homely cafe offers a selection of homemade scones, cakes, soup and other goodies. Their freshly baked sourdough loaves are a new addition – and another good reason to visit.

 

 

Milne and Pickles, Peebles

Warm and welcoming with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, this delightful Northgate café/deli offers artisan cheese and charcuterie platters, sourdough toasties and cakes paired with small producer wines, craft beers and locally roasted coffee. A multi-award-winning cafe – voted Best Eatery in Scotland (Scotland’s Business Awards 2021) and Best Loved Cafe South (Scottish Cafe & Bakery Awards 2023) among its many accolades – this bustling café sells a range of tasty light meals and LOTS of homemade cake. Vegan and gluten-free options available and dogs very welcome. Look out too for the Loulabelles coffee trailer at events and festivals across the area.

Shop, relax, recharge, and connect with fellow outdoor enthusiasts in this cosy textiles hub. Delicious, locally-made cakes and coffee from Scottish Borders’ artisan roasters, Three Hills Coffee, are the perfect antidote to a few hours spent in the hills or on the river.
